關於蔡仞姿 About Choi Yan-chi

蔡仞姿於八○年代開始已致力推動香港當代藝術思潮,1985年香港藝術中心舉辦蔡仞姿第一次装置藝術個展,1992年蔡仞姿應邀為澳洲第一届亞太三年展香港参展藝術家之一,同年亦於德國柏林世界藝術館作個展。1995年蔡氏獲加拿大文化局藝術家年獎,1990年獲亞洲文化協會旅美藝術家奬。2002年蔡氏轉職浸會大學,隨即致力協助浸會大學成立第一所視覺藝術院。蔡氏也是香港重要當代藝術場地1a空間的創辦人之一,香港藝術中心、香港大學藝術系、德國柏林世界藝術館及Parasite藝術空間都曾出版蔡仞姿作品集,2008年蔡仞姿曾作南加州大學訪問學人,2009年蔡氏於香港「十月當代」策展了一個新項目「綠色—-由啟德河開始」。2011年獲民政事務局長嘉許獎。

Choi Yan Chi has been actively promoting contemporary art in Hong Kong since the 1980’s. In 1985 she had a solo installation show in Hong Kong Arts Centre. In 1992 she was invited to take part in the first Asia Pacific Triennial in Queensland Art Gallery, Australia, and in the same year she had a solo show at Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin. She was awarded Artist of the Year in 1998 by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. In 2002 Choi joined Hong Kong Baptist University and helped to establish the first Academy of Visual Arts at Baptist University. Choi is also one of the founders of 1a Space, a progressive and independent contemporary art space in Hong Kong.  Three art catalogues and a book on Choi’s art have been published by Hong Kong Arts Center, Hong Kong University Fine Arts Department, Haus der Kulturen der Welt and Parasite Art Space respectively. In 2008 Choi was invited by University of Southern California as Distinguished Provost Visitor. In 2010, her work was included in the exhibition “New Vision New Colour” by Hong Kong Museum of Art. In 2011 Choi was granted an award by the Hong Kong Secretary of Home Affairs’ Commendation Scheme.
